About: I'm interested in how we can bring the richness of our digital representations of ourselves - e.g., through weblogs and [other] social media - into the physical spaces we share with others, so that real world communities can better enjoy the benefits of virtual communities.

Kathy Gill:

Thanks. I probably should be more interested in the "why" than I am... normally it's one of my first questions! ;-)

Right now, I seem to be more focused on "what" as in "what are the impacts on existing structures" -- primarily political institutions and news media. Of course, that means I'm also very interested in economic impacts!

Finally, I'm mulling over this idea that "democracy" means "everyone should contribute equally" or "everyone's contribution is equal". This seems false. To me "democracy" means "everyone has the chance to contribute" --but not that all contributions have equal merit or that a system has "failed" if everyone does not chose to participate.
