Facebook Data Collection

If anyone has experience collecting data off Facebook, I'd be keen to speak with you. My particular interest is in the recent global protests against the FARC in Columbia that developed on Facebook. See for example the following article in the Christian Science Monitor. http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0204/p04s02-woam.html. I'm curious what data could be collected to support a retrospective analysis of the developments leading up to the global protests.
